K san surprised us all yesterday when she single-handedly
juggled "ojami" (Japanese bean-bags)!

Today K san brought a gift : four cute ojami that she had hand-made
earlier on in the day !

And again she showed us the juggling act.

Everyone was impressed...

Later , after the last class had finished, I stayed behind
and practiced juggling ...

At first, the bean-bags were flying around in all directions!

It must have been a funny sight!

However, after some practice, I suddenly got the knack of it!

I thought it was a bit like learning how to ride a bike ...

(But only using 2 bean-bags .... and both hands!!)

Next I'll try one-handed juggling!

Thank You K san!

"Pratice makes perfect" ....

Walking by the river this morning

I noticed with a pang of melancholy,

the faded and withered flowers of the kinmokusei

whilst walking along Kagami River ...

Whilst walking along Kagami River yesterday morning, on
my usual Sunday walk, I discovered a whole row of osmanthus
fragrans (kinmokusei) spanning about 50 metres!

I named it "Osmanthus Walk" ...

To get there, proceed along Kagami River in a westerly direction,
until you reach Kamimachi 4 chome.

It is a delightful spot

at this time of year ...

This evening around 6ish, a scented breeze drifted through the window
carrying the delicious scent of the osmanthus fragans ( 金木犀)。

This is one of my favourite fragrances. After the last class I went
for a stroll around the neighbourhood, enjoying the scented air ~jsW

It always reminds me of the time when I first arrived in Japan.
It was at this time of year, in the month of October...

Yesterday I had a request to teach a short French lesson to
some students.

I can speak French, but it has been a while since I had a chance
to so I was a bit nervous...

But, to my surprise and relief, when I started to think and speak
in French it all came tumbling back! after all these years!

Yesterday we looked at some simple sentences :

Bonjour! Ca va? Hello ! How are you?

Je m'appelle E . Je suis japonaise. My name is E. I am Japanese.

Je voudrais une biere s'il vous plait. I'd like a beer please.

The spelling above is not exactly correct as French includes
some accents but I haven't located them on my keyboard yet!

Bonne nuit!

udon or soba?

Today I'd like to ask you a question: which do you prefer,
udon or soba?

If you had asked me that question last week I would have answered
"udon! bukkake!"

Until today that is..

I had the most delicious soba I have ever eaten :
Seasonal Vegetable Tempura Soba ...

I was surprised to learn that soba is a nutritious food too,
more so than udon I guess.

Then there is soba tea ... I love it!!

So, which do you prefer, udon or soba?
